Living Labs
A learning living lab is where you learn by doing! They
provide citizens and stakeholders with tools to shape urban mobility transitions.
LLL serve as spaces for experiential learning, co-creation, and citizen empowerment, helping cities transition to the 15-Minute City model.
LLLs bridge the gap between research and real-world impact by producing knowledge and developing empowerment tools like:
✅Testing these tools in real-life urban environments.
✅Supporting citizens’ inclusion in decision-making processes.
✅Helping partner cities integrate citizen perspectives into urban mobility planning.
LLLs ensure that urban transitions are socially and environmentally sustainable, helping mid-sized cities grow in a way that prioritises community needs and engagement.
✅ Identify barriers to change – Understanding how personal habits, infrastructure, and policies may slow down the shift to sustainable mobility.
✅ Explore pathways to the 15-Minute City – Investigating different approaches and public perceptions to create practical, community-driven solutions.
✅ Give citizens a voice – Developing and testing tools that encourage public participation in shaping their urban environment.
✅ Shape future mobility together – Collaborating with communities to envision and co-design better transportation options.
✅ Support continuous learning between cities – Creating opportunities for knowledge exchange so that cities can learn from each other’s successes and challenges.
✅ Organising interactive learning sessions with diverse urban actors.
✅ Using visual storytelling, gamification, and participatory workshops to co-create future scenarios.
✅ Addressing power dynamics and institutional barriers for inclusive urban transitions.
